Volunteers' Week: Time to say than you

Celebrating Volunteers’ Week: A Tribute to Our Dedicated Team

Recognising the Remarkable Contributions of Our Volunteers

Volunteers’ Week, now in its 40th year, takes place in the first week of June every year. It’s a chance to recognise the fantastic contributions volunteers make to our communities and to say thank you.

As Volunteers’ Week comes to a close, we want to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for the incredible dedication, selflessness, and unwavering commitment of our squadron volunteers and cadets. Their invaluable contributions have made a lasting impact, shaping the lives of our young cadets and helping them soar to new heights.

Our squadron

Our squadron boasts a team of 19 remarkable volunteers and trustees who have collectively dedicated 164 years of service to the RAF Air Cadets. Among our esteemed group of volunteers, we have:

  • 3 dedicated civilian members who bring invaluable expertise and support to our squadron.
  • 8 exceptional uniformed members, including 3 RAF Service Instructors, who inspire and mentor our cadets.
  • 8 hardworking trustees who provide guidance and support to ensure our squadron’s success.
Heartfelt Gratitude from Our Community

We would also like to share some heartfelt messages of gratitude from some of our cadets and parents:

“As parents, we would like to thank all of the volunteers who readily give their time to support the Cadets. It genuinely does not go un-noticed the amount of time you all give. We are personally enormously grateful for the opportunities [our child] has had already in her short time as a Cadet and can see how she is growing as an individual. She absolutely cannot wait for Wednesdays and Fridays and is ‘buzzing’ when she returns. Thanks to all of you for the efforts you put in with all the young people, but of course our personal thanks for the confidence, skills and ethics you are instilling.”

Parent

“I would just like to say a quick thank you to all of the staff, for using their personal time helping cadets with admin and behind the scenes work. So thank you for doing that, it helps the cadets a lot, to grow and develop into better of themselves, please keep doing what you are doing!”

Cadet

“Want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of the volunteers involved. The experiences the opportunities they offer are second to none and help give young adults a strong foundation to their life ahead.”

Parent

“Thank you to all the staff for making cadets a fun and enjoyable place for everyone.”

Cadet

“Thank you to all of the volunteers and trustees who have helped our squadron become the amazing squadron it is today.”

Cadet

“Thank you to all volunteers for all of your commitment to us and your sacrifices made.”

Cadet

The dedication, passion, and unwavering support of our volunteers have created a nurturing environment that has allowed our cadets to thrive, learn, and grow into exceptional individuals. The positive impact they have made on the cadets’ lives is immeasurable, and we are deeply grateful for their continued commitment to youth development.

It is through their selfless service that we can provide transformative experiences and opportunities to the young people we serve.
